The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship will return to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in 2027, with the venue hosting the third round of the season. Located in Cheste, near Valencia, the circuit will welcome the Championship back for the first time since 2010. Inaugurated in 1999, the circuit hosted 11 consecutive WorldSBK rounds between 2000 and 2010, with Corser, Haga, Bayliss, Hodgson and Toseland among the winners across the 22 races held in the Comunitat Valenciana.
A UNIQUE STADIUM DESIGN HOSTS THE ACTION
The Circuit Ricardo Tormo is uniquely designed like a giant motorsport stadium: the main grandstands offer a full view of the track, and the amphitheatre layout keeps fans close to the racing action. Valencia is now preparing to host the Superbike World Championship in early April 2027. With all classes in action, the event promises to be a celebration of all things on two wheels at one of international motorcycle racing’s most iconic venues. The Valencian Round will be the first of two events hosted on Spanish soil for the 2027 season alongside the Aragon Round, while Jerez will be undergoing renovation works.
PREVIOUS TRIPS TO VALENCIA
11 previous visits to Valencia brought plenty of drama. The last race, in 2010, saw Noriyuki Haga beating Carlos Checa by just 0.025s in an aggregate race, while Max Biaggi was just 0.299s away from Haga. In 2007, in Race 1, there was a famous home win for Ruben Xaus while in Race 2, James Toseland, Biaggi and Haga were separated by just 0.375s at the end of the 23-lap race. 2006 was all about the two Troys as Bayliss and Corser finished 1-2 in both races. In Race 2, Corser led until Lap 21 of 23 when Bayliss came through to claim the double. In 2003, when Valencia hosted the season opener, there was a double for Neil Hodgson as he started his Championship charge in the perfect fashion.
“THIS DEVELOPMENT REINFORCES THE GENERALITAT’S COMMITMENT TO SPORT”
Jose Diez, Second Vice President of the Valencian Government and Regional Minister for the Presidency, said: "In 2027, the Ricardo Tormo Circuit will host the two most important motorcycle racing world championships: MotoGP and WorldSBK. This development reinforces the Generalitat's commitment to sport, strengthens the region's international profile, and highlights the significant economic impact generated by major events such as these.”
“WE LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH THE CIRCUIT TO MAKE THIS RETURN A MEMORABLE OCCASION”
Gregorio Lavilla, WorldSBK Executive Director, said: “Valencia holds an important place in WorldSBK's history, and we are delighted to bring the Championship back to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo. Having all our classes together in Valencia will give fans a full and varied weekend of racing. We look forward to working with the circuit to make this return a memorable occasion for the fans who followed us here in the past and those joining us for the first time.”
