Another domino in the 2027 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship rider market has fallen, and Brad Binder has been announced as the rider to replace Danilo Petrucci (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) with the Factory BMW squad for 2027. The South African brings MotoGP race-winning pace to the team, which will look to take full advantage of the speed and experience he brings to the table.

Binder has won two races and climbed onto the MotoGP podium a total of 11 times over the course of his seven-year career in the Championship. His results haven’t quite shown his potential over the last two seasons; however, the #33 was a top-six finisher every season from 2021 to 2024, even finishing 2023 in 4th place with five podium finishes.
On his 2027 ride, Binder said: “It's super exciting to be starting something fresh. I had a good run here, a good seven seasons but I'm looking forward to the next adventure. It's going to be exciting, a completely new paddock, a completely new bike. I’m looking forward to getting started there for sure, but looking forward to my last few races here in MotoGP, and hopefully we can make them good ones. I've had the opportunity to race up at the front, and where I am at the moment, it’s a lot more fun at the sharp end. I want to achieve good things there.”

The 31-year-old is animated about the new chapter of his career, where he will once again ride alongside Miguel Oliveira, this time with the factory BMW squad. The two have shared a garage a total of six seasons across MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3, as well as the 125cc World Championship all the way back in 2011. The pair get along well, and the team hopes that the good relationship between the riders will translate into faster progress in developing the M 1000 RR.
On a return to riding alongside his Portuguese former teammate, Binder said: “Miguel and I get along incredibly well. I'd need to sit down and count all the seasons we've raced together, a fair few seasons on different bikes and in different categories. Normally, what works for him works for me, so I'm excited. It's going to be cool, seven years in the same place, so starting fresh should be cool."
