Eight rounds of the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship campaign have been completed and just four remain in what’s been a historic season. New manufacturer ZXMOTO have made their mark with six wins in their debut campaign but it looks like the Riders’ Championship might be heading in a different direction, while neither the Manufacturers’ nor the Teams’ titles have been wrapped up yet – and nothing can be won at Magny-Cours.
ARENAS WITH MORE THAN A ROUND IN HAND
Albert Arenas (AS BLU CRU Racing Team) has shown consistency is king in his rookie campaign. He has half the number of wins as Valentin Debise (EASTROC ZXMOTO Evan Bros Factory), but more than double the podiums (13 to Arenas, 6 to Debise), and that has helped him to a very strong 82-point lead over the Frenchman with 200 points remaining in the season. Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) is third in the standings, 96 points back from Arenas, with Can Oncu (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) trailing the #75 by 113 points with four rounds remaining. Remarkably, 13 riders have stood on the WorldSSP rostrum this season, and only one Arenas has taken more than six podiums.
MANUFACTURERS’ CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS
In the fight for the Manufacturers’ Championship, Yamaha have a 41-point lead over Ducati in second having scored 320 points. ZXMOTO’s impressive rookie campaign has them sitting in third place right now with 211 points, more than 100 behind Yamaha. It is advantage to Yamaha right now, with one rider each race contributing to the points tally, but it is not something they can win at Magny-Cours.
TEAMS’ TITLE BATTLE
Arenas’ consistency and Aldi Mahendra (AS BLU CRU Racing Team) putting in impressive performances have helped the AS BLU CRU Racing Team to a 166-point lead over EASTROC ZXMOTO Evan Bros Factory, with the title leaders on 402 points. Strong showings from both Tom Booth-Amos and teammate Oli Bayliss have helped PTR Triumph Factory Racing climb into third in the standings, level on points with ZXMOTO. Orelac Racing VerdNatura, courtesy of Masia's podium pace and Josh Whatley becoming a regular points scorer in his first campaign on the Ducati, sit fourth with 221 points.
