The 2026 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship has seen records once thought unassailable shattered, and some of the paddock’s newer faces soar to new heights. Now, however, with five rounds remaining, there are already several titles and awards up for grabs at Donington Park in the Prosecco DOC UK Round. WorldSSP remains too close for any title or award to be decided; however, WorldSBK and WorldWCR both have Championships and awards that can be claimed with the right outcomes.
DUCATI DOMINANCE IN WORLD SUPERBIKE
Ducati’s dominant 2026 WorldSBK season has seen the top positions dominated by Panigale V4Rs, resulting in the Manufacturers’ Championship, Teams’ Championship and the Pirelli Best Lap Award each being able to be clinched, the first two by the Italian manufacturer, and the latter by their star man, Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati). Ducati currently hold a 242-point lead in the Manufacturers’ Championship, and with only 310 points left pre-Round 8, the Italian manufacturer can clinch the Manufacturers’ Championship as early as after the Tissot Superpole Race if they can increase their lead to 273 points by outscoring Bimota by 31 points across Race 1 and the Tissot Superpole Race.
Aruba.it Racing – Ducati arrive at Donington with a commanding 463-point advantage in the Teams’ Championship. If they increase that lead to 489 points by outscoring Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team by 26 points and Barni Spark Racing Team by one point across the opening two races, they will secure the 2026 Teams' Championship. If they aren’t able to hit that mark, they would be able to clinch the Teams’ title at the end of the round provided their lead isn’t diminished below the 444-point mark, meaning that they can lose up to 19 points to Bimota and 34 points to Barni Ducati respectively over the course of the weekend and still clinch the Teams’ Championship.
Nicolo Bulega can also secure the Pirelli Best Lap Award thanks to his meteoric third WorldSBK season speed. He has set himself up to be honoured with the accolade if he sets the fastest lap in Race 1. If anyone other than teammate Iker Lecuona records the fastest lap, ‘Bulegas’ will add the award to his already-cramped trophy cabinet-
HERRERA’S ERA IN WorldWCR?
Having won five of their season’s eight races so far, Maria Herrera (Terra & Vita GRT Yamaha WorldWCR) has built up a 24-point Riders’ Championship lead with just two rounds to go, including Donington. With 100 points left on the table, if the #6 can outscore her title rival by 26 points over the course of the weekend, she will become the first-ever WorldWCR double Champion, doing so in emphatic back-to-back fashion. Herrera could also claim the Tissot Superpole award as she currently enjoys an eight-point lead; with only 12 points available after the UK Round, Herrera could win the award on Friday after the Tissot Superpole session if she outscores Paola Ramos (Klint Racing Team) by four points while conceding no more than six points to her rival Beatriz Neila (Ampito Crescent Yamaha). The #36 could clinch an accolade of her own in England as the Pirelli Best Lap Award is within reach. The Madrid native has a one-lap lead, and with two left after the round, Neila could win in Race 2 if she sets the fastest lap in both of the weekend’s races.
