The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship is building momentum as tension continues to build around the Donington Park circuit, set to host the Prosecco DOC UK Round kicking off on Friday, July 10th. As the Official Tyre Supplier of the Championship, Pirelli have confirmed which tyres will be available in the UK Round after careful deliberation among their engineers.
SCQ REMAINS AMONG THE OPTIONS ON THE REAR
The track’s flowing, high-speed layout lends itself to riders with the composure to keep the gas open as they turn the bike from one side to the other, and to tyres that enable that aggressive mindset. As such, the extrasoft SCQ tyre remains an option after its availability at Misano. As the softest tyre in the entire Pirelli range, its use is limited to Tissot Superpole Sessions, the Tissot Superpole Race, and free practice. For the weekend’s other races, the SCX supersoft and SC0 soft will be available. Unpredictable weather has been a hallmark of past UK Rounds, and as such, on the rear, both intermediate and wet options will be ready for use.
STANDARD FRONT TYRE SOLUTIONS
On the front axle, World Superbike riders will have a choice between the SC1 soft and the SC2 medium tyres. In last season’s outing to Donington Park, the softer option was a hit, selected by the vast majority of the grid across both full-length races. As on the rear, if the weather takes a turn for the worse, intermediate and wet options will be available on the front.
WORLD SUPERSPORT SOLUTIONS
For WorldSSP, the rear tyre allocation remains the same as at Misano. To take on the critical round in what’s shaping up to be a multi-rider shootout for the WorldSSP crown, the UK Round will feature the SCX supersoft and SC0 soft compounds on the rear. Meanwhile, on the front, riders will have the choice between the SC1 soft and SC2 medium compounds.
“DONINGTON DEMANDS TYRES CAPABLE OF DELIVERING OUTSTANDING GRIP, PRECISION AND STABILITY”
On his team’s allocation decisions, Pirelli Motorcycle Racing Director Giorgio Barbier said: “Donington Park is a very distinctive circuit on the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship calendar. The opening part of the lap features a series of fast, flowing corners taken at high speed and rapid changes of direction that require riders to manage significant power while the bike is still heavily leaned over. This demands tyres capable of delivering outstanding grip, precision and stability, while maintaining consistent performance over race distance. Compared with last year, when only standard range solutions were available and no development specifications were included, this season, while confirming the same compounds introduced in 2025, we will provide riders with the complete 2026 standard range.”
