The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship heads to Italy and the historic Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” for Round 7 of the 2026 season. The second half of the season kicks off with the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round and the Championship’s Official Tyre Supplier, Pirelli, have unveiled their allocation for their first home round of the season.
SCQ RETURNS AT THE REAR
After not being available at either the Autodrom Most or MotorLand Aragon, Pirelli have brought the standard SCQ tyre to Misano. This tyre was previously used in 2025 as the development E0479 and is now part of the Italian tyre manufacturer’s standard range, but can only be used in practice sessions, Tissot Superpole and the Tissot Superpole Race. The two race tyres that are available are the SCX supersoft and the SC0 soft tyre, both from the standard range. Should it rain, riders will be able to choose from the standard Intermediate or standard Rain tyres.
FRONT TYRE SOLUTIONS
For the front tyres, in dry conditions, teams and riders will have two to choose from. The softest of the two is the SC1 soft, while it is joined by the SC2 medium – both from the standard range. The soft tyre is the one that is most commonly used over the course of the season, while the medium offers better mechanical resistance and greater protection from wear, particularly at circuits which place a high demand on the front tyre. If it rains, the standard Intermediate and Rain tyres are available.
WORLD SUPERSPORT CHOICES
For the WorldSSP field, there are two options for the rear tyre and two for the front. At the rear, the softest tyre is the SCX supersoft, while the hardest option is the SC0 soft. At the front, the two choices are the SC1 soft and SC2 medium. If it rains, riders will have the standard SCR1 rain tyres at the front and rear.
“A LARGER CONTACT PATCH AND IMPROVED PERFORMANCE CONSISTENCY”
Discussing Pirelli’s tyre choice for Misano, Motorcycle Racing Director Giorgio Barbier said: “For the Emilia-Romagna Round – a circuit we know extremely well, having hosted races for many years as well as numerous manufacturer tests throughout the season – we are bringing the new 2026 standard-range SCQ extrasoft as the designated Superpole rear tyre, a specification that until last year was known as the E0479 development solution. Introduced in WorldSBK at Misano last season and designed with an innovative carcass to deliver greater stability, a larger contact patch and improved performance consistency, the new standard-range SCQ follows the same development philosophy that led to the production versions of the current DIABLO™ Superbike SCX and SC0, both of which were development specifications in 2025. The SCQ was the final piece needed to complete the renewal of our rear tyre range which, it is worth noting, is now also available for purchase by all riders through the Pirelli dealer network, both for racing use and for track-day activities. In addition to assessing the behaviour of the SCQ, it will also be interesting to see how the SCX supersoft performs. After serving as the reference tyre for Superpole and the Superpole Race at Aragon, this weekend it could prove to be the most competitive option for the long races given the high temperatures expected.”
