Loris Baz (Bonovo Action BMW) will take no further part in the Motul Indonesian Round after he was diagnosed with fractures to his right leg and ankle following a clash with Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) during the shortened Tissot Superpole Race on Sunday for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.
Baz and Lowes had both been involved a crash prior to the red flags were shown but were able to re-join the restarted race. The pair were running close together on Lap 3 heading into Turn 10 under braking with Lowes making contact with Baz’s leg. Baz rode his bike back to the pits but was taken to the medical centre for a check up and was diagnosed with right proximal fibula and right ankle fracture, which will be assessed further by a CT scan. He will therefore miss Race 2 of the Indonesian Round.
