Spanish rider Alvaro Bautista discusses his future and where he might end up on the 2022 WorldSBK grid…

Now in his third year of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, Spanish rider Alvaro Bautista (Team HRC) is now looking towards where he will be in his fourth season with the rider market in full swing as the season approaches the halfway point of the campaign. Having raced for Ducati in 2019 and fought for the title, Bautista switched to Honda for 2020 and 2021 with one podium to his name so far with Team HRC.

In an interview with SPEEDWEEK.com, Bautista, when asked about the possibility that he will ride for a new team in 2022, said: "Where there's smoke, there's fire. I have an offer from another team on the table. I still have the feeling that as a driver I'm good enough to win races. For that I want a motorcycle and a team that can win. Then I'll look. We have a lot of ideas at Honda to improve. But apart from that, there are also possibilities for me. This season and last season are very strange because of COVID-19. One thing is certain: Honda Racing Corporation is very good and is very committed to this project. It's not true that I'm leaving Honda. But it is also not 100 percent certain that I will stay. I've started a new project with Honda, I don't want to do it again.”

Bautista claimed his best result of the 2021 season with fifth in Race 2 at the TT Circuit Assen for the Dutch Round, but top eight results have been hard for the Spanish rider to come by in 2021, claiming just eight in 18 races throughout the season so far.
