The turn of the millennium brought with it plenty of ‘Project 2000’ ideas and designs, but in the World Superbike Championship, it was business as usual as the unpredictable circus raced into Kyalami for the season-opening South African round. Once more, it would be a final lap scrap to kick off the new millennium in style as Colin Edwards, Noriyuki Haga and reigning World Champion Carl Fogarty went head-to-head in the rainbow nation. In what would set the pattern for the whole season and give a taste of what was to come in the coming months.
