Preparations for 2020 have already started for the WorldSSP300 rider who aims to begin her 2020 with a strong pace

The pre-season period has already started for some WorldSBK riders and teams that on the 13th and 14th November 2019 were at MotorLand Aragón for their first winter test in preparation for 2020. Making her first steps into the new year, 2018 WorldSSP300 World Champion and 2019 bronze medalist Ana Carrasco (Kawasaki Provec WorldSSP300) also took it to the Spanish track during the two days.

Despite the mixed conditions that saw early rain limiting track activities in the morning to then welcome more action in the final hours of the days as the weather improved, Carrasco was eager to test, and she was the first to brave the rain on Wednesday morning and to open track activities onboard her Kawasaki Ninja 400.

With a total of 116 laps put in between Wednesday and Thursday and a best lap of 2’09.070, Carrasco left Aragón with positive feeling as she considered the two days as a good opportunity for her to gather different information to work on throughout the season: “I am happy about these two days of testing here in Aragón. The weather wasn’t too good, but at least we got some information for the wet conditions, and it was something that I needed. During the season it had been difficult for me to ride under the rain. So, it was a good chance for us to work on the bike with these conditions”.

After clinching a record-breaking WorldSSP300 World Championship title in 2018 becoming the first-ever female rider to win a motorcycle World Championship, Carrasco finished the 2019 season third overall with five podiums and two more wins added to her name. The goal for next year is clear: claiming back the championship baton that now lies in Manuel Gonzalez’s hands: “It’s important to be strong from the beginning of the season, and of course, I want to fight for the title again but winning depends on many things. The goal is to keep being competitive all the season”.

Carrasco’s preparation for 2020 will continue in a few days, as the Spaniard and her team will took part to the second and last winter test for 2019, this time at the Andalusian Circuito de Jerez Angel Nieto: “Now we will head to Jerez for other two days of testing, which is good because here in Aragón we also tried two different tyre compounds that Pirelli brought for next year. It has been hard to test them here, but now we can try them on a different track and compare the information we’ve already got with new data. Then, we will be able to decide which direction we should take for next year”.
