The 18-year-old will represent Team Pedercini Racing for the two final rounds of the season

Team Pedercini Racing have announced that Gabriele Ruiu will be making the move up to their MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship team for the final two rounds of the 2018 season, joining the Italian team for the Motul Argentinian Round next weekend.

Ruiu has been competing this season with Team Pedercini Racing in the European Superstock 1000 Championship, showing incredible promise and finishing eighth in the championship standings thanks to several top ten finishes. With this promotion to the WorldSBK grid, the 18-year-old becomes the first rider born in the 2000s to compete in the top class.

Taking hold of his ZX-10RR again, the Italian hopes to make an impact at the San Juan Circuit: “I'm very happy for this occasion! I will do my best trying to learn as much as possible from the best riders in the world. They will be two races that will have the value of a test of prestige, I thank Lucio Pedercini for giving me this opportunity”.

Team manager Lucio Pedercini is equally excited ahead of the young prospect’s debut: "I'm happy to be able to give this opportunity to Gabriele, he's a serious guy, who showed great dedication to work during the year. You can take advantage of these races to get experience without any pressure. I believe a lot in him and I am convinced that he will succeed in getting noticed”.
