It’s been a historic second day for the 2020 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at the Motul Portuguese Round. The WorldSBK field were making waves throughout Tissot Superpole and Race 1 on Saturday; Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) took another win and podiums streaks were ended: find out all there is to know with our Sunday Stats Pack!

  1. Jonathan Rea recorded an important milestone in Race 1 as he scored the 150th win for Kawasaki: they are the second manufacturer to reach this goal after Ducati, standing now at 360 wins.

  2. This was the 91st win for Rea from his 24th pole position. For the tenth time, he was a race winner in Portimao, making this the second track in which he has won at least ten times after Assen (12 wins). He is the only rider in history winning at least ten times in two tracks.

  3. Rea could be the first rider to achieve 19 podiums at one venue.

  4. After the first race at Portimao, Toprak Razgatlioglu’s (PATA YAMAHA WorldSBK Official Team) podium count is up to 20, scoring a second place, the best result for Yamaha here since van der Mark was equally second in Race 2, 2018.

  5. Toprak’s rostrum means he is the second youngest rider to reach 20 podiums. The youngest of all time is Chris Vermeulen, something he achieved in 2005.

  6. Fifth podium at Portimao for Michael van der Mark (PATA YAMAHA WorldSBK Official Team), the same of Jerez and Magny-Cours. He recorded more only at his home track, Assen (7).

  7. Alvaro Bautista was able to take Honda to the top ten at Portimao for the first time since 2017, when Takahashi was 10th.

  8. After his fourth place in Race 2 in Jerez, Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Team GOELEVEN) was 5th in Race 1 in Algarve: this is the first time in his career with back-to-back top five finishes.

  9. Rinaldi was the best Ducati rider at the finish: for the first time since the first race in 2014, the Italian manufacturer wasn’t able to put a bike on the rostrum at Portimao.

  10. Results in progress for Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK), as in the last four races he was 9th, 7th, 5th and 4th. Despite this progression, his position in the standings deteriorated, as he went from the lead after Phillip Island, to fourth after the first Portimao race.
