Relive one of the Championship-defining moments from 2019, as well as the first of many duels between Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlioglu

As in recent weeks, the 2020 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship is making a full race weekend available for FREE to watch for the next week. This week’s offering is from the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” in 2019, which featured drama and excitement throughout – and a load of rain to add to the event, although not dampening anyone’s spirits!

Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) claimed victory in Race 1 having led all but two laps throughout the 18-lap race, which was delayed twice due to weather conditions. A 20-minute delay before the race got underway gave a taste of what was to come and after two full laps, the race was red flagged. The race did get underway and despite Alex Lowes briefly leading, Rea’s 2020 teammate crashed out from the front and gave the Ulsterman a victory.

Alvaro Bautista claimed victory after a battle with Rea in the Tissot Superpole Race in the early stages before Rea fell back down the order following an incident with just a handful of laps to go – the defending Champion coming home in fifth place after a tumble at Tramonto. It was a dramatic race that set the grid for Race 2; Bautista starting from pole position.

For Race 2, Rea reached a milestone 75th WorldSBK win as he closed in on Bautista in the Championship standings after the long-time leader crashed out on Lap 4. KRT’s Leon Haslam and Puccetti Kawasaki’s Toprak Razgatlioglu both led throughout the race but with a few laps to go, Rea passed Turkish sensation Razgatlioglu to claim victory, despite the Independent rider’s best efforts on the final lap.

There was similar drama in the FIM Supersport World Championship race as BARDAHL Yamaha teammates Randy Krummenacher and Federico Caricasulo had a sensational final lap battle. The race was filled with drama throughout as riders in the leading group crashed out while Krummenacher and Caricasulo came to blows by rubbing elbows in the final sector of the final lap; both would go on to finish the race.

The FIM Supersport300 World Championship featured a titanic six-rider battle at the front as Ana Carrasco as the 2018 Champion hauled herself into contention for the 2019 title. A frantic few laps meant Carrasco, Manuel Gonzalez, Andy Verdoïa, Galang Hendra Pratama, Victor Steeman and Emanuele Vocino all fought for victory in an epic race.
