David Salom: "We worked really hard to win the EVO title"

The Spaniard is happy with the outcome of his challenging season.

Despite winning the EVO title at the end of race 1 at Losail International Circuit, David Salom’s 2014 season was far from easy as the Spanish rider had to ride through the pain due to a right hand injury that heavily affected his on track performance. After undergoing surgery last July, Salom injured his hand again last month at Magny-Cours, while attempting to keep the bike upright following a near highside. The 30 year old from Palma de Mallorca managed to recover in time to tackle the last round in Qatar and proved everyone to be a fighting champion by finishing second best EVO classified in race 1 and sealing the title.

“It has been an amazing season,” said Salom “especially considering all the problems I’ve had with my hand. I underwent surgery last July and I had no idea if I could contest the remaining races. The team worked really hard from winter testing throughout the whole season. I had very competitive riders in Niccolò (Canepa), Leon (Camier) and Sylvain (Barrier). In the end we were able to come out on top. We had a good gap to manage ahead of the last round so everything went well. It was nice to get the title in Qatar, but also the opening round at Phillip Island was one to remember.”
