Shane ByrneAfter showing impressive form in pre-season testing, Sterilgarda Ducati rider Shane Byrne was unable to get the results he had been looking for and expecting at Phillip Island. The British rider in fact recorded two DNFs through crashes in the opening two races in Australia. These unexpected results have not demoralized ‘Shakey' however and he is ready for the rematch in the next round at Losail on March 14.

"It was bad luck" declared Byrne. "I had a good start in race 1, but I noticed that the tyres were slipping in an odd way in the early laps. I tried to recover, but after seven laps I crashed. Although I had a hand injury, I didn't give up and started race 2 as well. I had a pretty good start, but after 11 laps, while I was trying to overtake Smrz at the hairpin, I got very wide in the corner. I tried to hold the line but the steering locked up and I crashed. Nevertheless, I started to understand how tough this championship is, especially in the early laps".
