New look BMW squad moves forward in Portuguese testing
Davide Tardozzi, recently appointed Team Manager for the new-look BMW Motorrad Motorsport team, had his first chance to watch the riders and staff in action alongside their rivals at Portimao last weekend.

There were several new faces in the BMW pitbox at Portimao, working to get their repeat rider line-up of Ruben Xaus and Troy Corser up to speed against their main competitors.

A crash suffered by Xaus lost the team some dry track time on the final day, but some goals were still achieved, and the team now heads to Valencia for more tests.

Said Corser, "We tried a lot of new stuff today on the chassis side and compared the different tyre compounds. The lap time on the race tyres was quite OK, but we did not quite achieve what we expected with the softer tyre. We gained a lot of valuable information which is good as there is still a lot of work to do."

Xaus adopted a pragmatic view about his final day experience at Portimao, stating, "Today was not a lucky day for me. In the morning I crashed and later I faced some technical issues we have to work on. However, the test was worth a lot. During the season, there will be a couple of days like that. We have to make the best out of it. I know what I can achieve, and the team is really motivated."
