Yamaha logoThe 2009 season was certainly one that will go down in Yamaha history, even if one only focuses on the Superbike category. The most spectacular result was clearly the title win by Ben Spies in World Superbike, with the amazing score of 14 race victories in 28 races and 11 pole positions. But even at national Superbike championship level, the Japanese manufacturer took a fair share of the trophies, especially in Europe.

Excluding the Italian CIV series, where Yamaha had reduced involvement, the Iwata manufacturer had the satisfaction of winning the three of the most important domestic championships, in Britain, Germany and France.

In BSB they dominated the championship, picking up a 1-2 overall with the win going to Leon Camier and James Ellison finishing runner-up. In the German IDM championship, the story was pretty much the same, with veteran Joerg Teuchert, 2000 Supersport world champion, taking the title by over 100 points from Martin Bauer.

The final Superbike title conquered by Yamaha was in France, with a last-round verdict at the Albi circuit going to Sebastien Gimbert, who won the title from his chief rival Vincent Philippe by 14 points.
