Yamaha WSS riders complete test at Portimao

Cal Crutchlow and Fabien Foret (Yamaha World Supersport Team) tested at the Portimao track on Monday and Tuesday this week, but the ‘green' track did not allow either rider to push to his full abilities, and the fact that it as track day, not a private test, mean that the circuit was frequently busy with regular street riders.
The track surface was cleaned on Monday night, and lap times improved by another second or so on Tuesday, but despite dry weather throughout, times remained a second or so from what could have been expected in normal conditions.
Team boss Wilco Zeelenberg said, "Our tests went well, no crashes or problems and the guys have now had the chance to find a rhythm on the track, even if they could not push just because of the track conditions. But the track is the same for everyone and now we are ready to go to Portimao and race."
Meanwhile Crutchlow's title rival Eugene Laverty will be out on the Portuguese track today and Thursday for a two-day session. The Irishman and his Parkalgar Honda team-mate Miguel Praia will be testing privately for the British team, which is sponsored by the Parkalgar circuit.
