The South African rider is preparing both mentally and physically to his first full season in the Superbike World Championship

Sheridan Morais is gearing up for his first full season in the eni FIM Superbike World Championship, that he will contest on-board the EVO-spec ZX-10R of the IRON BRAIN Kawasaki SBK Team. The South African rider has already taken part into four rounds of the series - between 2009 and 2010 - and he is aware of the tough competition awaiting him:

“After having done a few wildcards in previous years” said Sheridan Morais “I know the level and difficulty of the premier class. I am really excited to begin this new venture and I have been physically preparing myself for a few months now.”

Morais’ is happy to race again on a 1000cc bike after a tough season in the Supersport World Championship but, according to his words, the number one priority now is to stay healthy, as his 2013 was heavily affected by crashes and injuries: “I have raced Superstock 1000 machines for a long time and in South Africa I have always had my best results on the ‘big’ bikes. So yes I do prefer the 1000cc bikes but the main focus has to be on my strength and fitness after a bad year for injuries last year. My expectations are high and with this great opportunity that I have for this season I am more motivated than ever. The goal for us would definitely be to fight at the front of our EVO class.”

WSBK will be back to South Africa this year and for the first time at Phakisa Freeway; an extremely good news for Morais, who made his debut in the series in 2009 at Kyalami as substitute rider for injured Makoto Tamada: “The South African round at Phakisa will be a dream come true. The circuit is really amazing and it will be a very proud moment for me to represent in front of my home supporters.”
