Sykes enjoying some time off after victory

After reaching the milestone of winning his first-ever World Superbike title 9 days ago at Jerez, Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) is enjoying his new status of Champion, even though he still hasn't fully realised the accomplishment. "To be honest" said Tom Sykes "I've had one week relaxing and every day the feeling has got stronger. It's still an unbelievable feeling and I'm trying to come to terms with such a big achievement, I'm very proud of what I've done. Hopefully I'll have some more days to spend good time with friends and family and continue the enjoyment."

The World Title is not the only thing that makes Sykes' 2013 so special, as a new arrival in the family is expected very soon: "Such a fantastic year, first the title and at the end of November my first child is due to be born. I will enjoy some time off and be completely relaxed when the testing ban kicks in, so I can be close to my wife". Sykes will already be on track tomorrow for a two-day test at Jerez, together with team mate Loris Baz, Team Ducati and FIXI Crescent Suzuki.

The British rider is still not sure whether to keep the number 66 plate for 2014 or opting for the #1: "That's under big discussion between myself, my wife and friends, you don't get the chance every day to use the number one plate. I think it'll be a surprise for next season."
