Saturday, 11 May 2019 15:32 GMT

Rea’s 11th season of winning, Bridewell’s first points and van der Mark’s best Imola: what to know for Sunday at Imola!

Having had the domination of Alvaro Bautista (ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati) broken in Race 1 at Imola, there’s even more to look forward to on Sunday. The Spaniard will look to fight back against Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK), but there is plenty more to find out about ahead of day three of Imola action!

  1. Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) recorded his first win of the season in Imola, making 2019 his 11th winning season, equalling the record of Noriyuki Haga: so far only the Japanese rider was able to win in 11 different seasons. Rea has recorded one win in each season he has started in WorldSBK, missing out only in 2008 when he entered the Portimao weekend as a wildcard.

  2. Rea is nearing two podium-related records: this was his 146th rostrum placement and his 104th for Kawasaki: he needs four more to become the first rider with 150 WorldSBK podiums and to beat the record of podiums for a single manufacturer (Sykes, 107 for Kawasaki).

  3. For the first time this season Bautista has not been able to lead the race.

  4. Best Imola result for Michael Van der Mark: so far, he had never finished in the top five here.

  5. For the first time this season, Alex Lowes couldn’t finish a race in the top five.

  6. Sunday’s Superpole Race will be the 230th WorldSBK start for Leon Haslam.

  7. Chaz Davies recorded his 7th career Superpole on Saturday, nearly half of these, three, came here in Imola. Davies was back on the top spot for the first time since Laguna Seca last year, a wait of 10 months and 18 days

  8. Toprak Razgatlioglu scored his third career podium in Race 1: his most recent one had been a third place in San Juan last year.

  9. Maiden WorldSBK points for Bridewell, at his 5th WorldSBK start, the first one since Silverstone 2010.

  10. Lorenzo Zanetti recorded a top ten finish in WorldSBK for the first time since the 2012 Nurburgring/1 Race when he was 8th.
