Cast your minds back to the Summer of 2000, when WorldSBK was in the midst of one of the most incredible seasons in the history of the championship. The Italian round at Monza was always a fan-favourite and having been defeated on the last lap and denied a first win of the year at Donington Park one week previous, 35-year-old Pierfrancesco Chili headed to his home round with the burning desire to give the partisan Italian crowd something to scream about. A classic game of cat and mouse developed in Race 1 and once again, a thrilling final lap beckoned, where Chili and Colin Edwards went head-to-head!
