After a victory in Race 1 for Neil Hodgson, it was time for a turnaround from Italy’s Pierfrancesco Chili, who was seeking his and Suzuki’s first win of an unpredictable 2001 campaign. Having been denied a win in Race 2 in 2000 in dramatic fashion by Neil Hodgson on the final lap, ‘Frankie’ yearned for revenge, to deny the British star a double victory at his home circuit. With an expectant crowd, Hodgson had the pressure to deliver, whilst fan-favourite Chili was just eager to silent his early season critics. In this thrilling battle, who would come out on top?
