Replacement for young Finnish rider yet to be announced

FIM Supersport World Championship rider Niki Tuuli (CIA Landlord Insurance Honda) has accepted an offer from SIC Racing Team to join the Moto2™ championship, with immediate effect. The Finnish rider will make his Grand Prix debut this weekend at Le Mans.

Simon Buckmaster, CIA Landlord Insurance Honda team manager, has wished Tuuli well in his new adventure: “For a young rider it is always hard when a team comes with an offer like this as we all want to be at the highest level possible in racing.  We are no different as a team as for instance, if it became possible we would want to run in World Superbike in a competitive way”.

“Life is always a challenge and we will go forward in a better way for CIA Landlord Insurance, all our other sponsors, supporters and our loyal hard-working team”, he adds.

Tuuli joined the WorldSSP field in 2016 for three races, finishing second in each one. In 2017, his first as a full-time rider, the Finn finished the season seventh, winning the Magny-Cours race. Tuuli currently sits eighth in the championship, with 38 points after five races, his best results this year two 7th position finishes in the Assen and Imola rounds.

As for the upcoming Donington Park race in ten days’ time, the CIA Landlord Insurance Honda team are yet to announce if there will be a replacement for the 22-year-old. Stay tuned to WorldSBK.com for any further updates in the upcoming days.
