Spaniard hoping that past Thai experience will give him an edge this weekend

Just a handful of days after racing at Magny-Cours in Round 11 of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, Jordi Torres (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) will be back on the tarmac this weekend in Thailand, joining the Reale Avintia Racing team once again to take part in the Thailand Grand Prix.

After making his MotoGP™ debut two weeks ago at MotorLand Aragon, the Spanish rider faces his second outing in the premiere class of the MotoGP™ paddock with higher expectations. Torres now knows the bike, tyres and team, and unlike most of his rivals this weekend he has competed previously at the Chang International Circuit. The 31-year-old has lined up on the WorldSBK grid at Buriram in each of the past four seasons, with a double fourth position his best result.

“After a great first experience at Aragon, where I had to absorb a lot of information throughout the weekend to adapt myself to the MotoGP style, to be back on the bike in Thailand is very positive”, Torres explains.

“I also know the circuit well, we’ve been racing there in World Superbike for the past four years. It’s a track I enjoy and where I’ve had good results. FP1 on Friday will be vital to get up to speed fast and continue improving. I need to improve a lot my lean angle and getting the bike back up quickly. I have a lot of clear ideas in my mind, but they need to be put to the test on the tarmac. Let’s see if I can ride a bit more freely and do my best”.

MotoGP™ FP1 at the Thailand GP starts this Friday at 9:55 local time (2:55 GMT).
