Yamaha rider dominates around Brno

Securing his second ever world championship victory, Galang Hendra Pratama (BIBLION YAMAHA MOTOXRACING) completed a stunning weekend at the Acerbis Czech Round as Yamaha were reaffirmed as a FIM Supersport 300 Championship contender once again in 2018.

Hendra Pratama, the 19 year old rising star took pole position in a sensational Superpole session on Saturday as fans saw a flash of his riding talent shown last season in Jerez. It was clear he is now feeling a lot more comfortable on his YZF-R3, and he approached Sunday’s race in a positive light: “After taking pole position, I knew I had a strong pace. I knew I would be able to put up a big fight and have a strong race.”

And have a strong race he certainly did, shooting off from pole position he faced a strong battle with championship leader Ana Carrasco (DS Junior Team). Fighting off a host of Kawasaki Ninja 400’s, the Indonesian hero shot up on the inside of turn three on the opening lap and didn’t look back.

Delighted with his race, he explains: “I am very very happy, I tried to push from the first lap and I am in the first position. I am very happy because the bike started very well, and the team put in a lot of good work. For the next race in Misano I will do my best, keep focused and continue like this.”

Taking his second world championship victory of his career, he now feels like it’s been a weight off his shoulders following a tough start to the season – in which his best result has been a fifth around Imola. Jumping to eighth in the world championship standings, the fight is on: “Now I feel a lot more confident after the tough start to the season, and I am very happy with our bike. Thank you to everyone for your support!”

Hendra’s victory was watched by thousands of fans in his home country of Indonesia, and you won’t want to miss out! Check it out on the WorldSBK VideoPass.
