Melandri sliced past Sykes to reign the Island

As is to be expected around the sensational 4.4km circuit, race one provided drama, close racing and action not to be missed, so be sure to enjoy the highlights of the opening race on Saturday. 22 laps of pure adrenaline greeted fans on Saturday, and a they were treated to a final lap thriller which saw Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) take the victory over the line. Just when you thought action couldn’t get any more exciting out on the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, Sunday’s race two welcomed a photo finish to the line. Race two had everything needed for an Island classic, complete with a mid-race pit stop. The first nine laps were pure WorldSBK action, before the pit stops provided a mix up in the front, and fans were in for a battle to the line.

WorldSSP back with a bang and a battle royale

If WorldSBK action isn’t enough, the ever unpredictable FIM Supersport World Championship round was not one to miss. Following a red flag, the race was shortened to a nine lap shoot-out for the victory, and riders didn’t disappoint. Reigning world champion Lucas Mahias (GRT Yamaha Official WorldSSP Team) was able to secure a stunning victory, but it was the battle for the final two spots on the podium which will catch your eye, and one that will keep you on the edge of your seats.
