GULF Althea BMW rider looks to leave difficult European season behind in San Juan

After taking two more top ten results at his home circuit of Magny-Cours, Loris Baz (GULF Althea BMW Racing Team) heads out to Argentina with more good results in his sights. It’s been a tough first year on the BMW for the French rider, who has nonetheless put on several brave performances on his return to the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship.

With the European season now behind, Baz arrives in the South American country focused and aiming to leave his mark on a track where unpredictability will be the name of the game. It will be a more level playing field at the Circuit San Juan Villicum, as nobody will be able to learn any the track’s quirks until FP1 kicks off on Friday. This is a scenario which could play in the BMW rider’s favour, as he looks for a first top five finish in 2018.

Baz is confident that he can be a fast-learner in Argentina: “I enjoy learning new tracks, so I’m excited to see it. No-one has any references so at least we all start on the same page. I hope the track suits the bike and that we can work well at San Juan. It’s not easy, but we’ll continue to fight for the best possible results… Let’s see what we can do.”
