Improvements to be made for the teams in Spain

Following the stunning racing action fans were treated to for the Pirelli Aragon Round, teams have some more steps and work to do around the Spanish circuit with the one day official test. All teams will be present and with similar weather conditions, riders are keen to work through issues encountered and with the same conditions as race day they know they will be able to understand the issues to a greater degree.

Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team), who secured a 1-2 position over the weekend has some issues to iron out around the circuit, and despite winning five out of the opening six races of the season, he knows there are still some weaknesses to his ZX-10RR. Team-mate Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) will be looking to work with his corner entry on board his Ninja Kawasaki, but as the British rider was plagued by illness at the Pirelli Aragon Round, it may be a case of getting himself back to full fitness.

Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team have some major issues to iron out following tough start to the season, and Nicky Hayden and Stefan Bradl will hope to work with electronics and improving the overall performance of the Fireblade SP2 ahead of the team’s home round at TT Circuit Assen. Eugene Laverty (Milwaukee Aprilia) ended the third round still unhappy with how his RSV4 RF rides, and the Irishman feels unsafe to make some tough passes with his machine. Himself and his team hope to work through the problems in order to make some good steps for the remainder of the season.

Jordi Torres (Althea BMW Racing Team) had a strong weekend in front of his home crowd, but without the boost of his home fans he will work with how his tyres perform on the early laps of a race, in order to improve his race starts. Ducati team-mates Chaz Davies and Marco Melandri continue to explain they have room to improve with their Panigales, with Melandri working on front end feeling and Davies on overall pace.

Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team are still just a few steps shy of making an appearance on the podium, but with some strong top five finishes they will have some small modifications to make in order for their YZF-R1’s to bring them up to the front group. Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) continues to be plagued with mechanical issues with his Italian machine, and will spend the test doing ‘donkey-work’, with the hope to improve the overall performance ahead of Assen.

The Official test begins at 9:00am LT (+2 GMT), and you can follow all updates through the WorldSBK social media channels, as well as on WorldSBK.com.
