Profile Racing rider reflects on finishing PATA UK Round in fourth place in WorldSSP race

Riding his Triumph Daytona 675 to fourth place in Sunday’s WorldSSP race in front of the home fans at the PATA UK Round Luke Stapleford was delighted to finish as the top Briton in the class.

Donington Park is truly the home circuit for the Leicestershire rider and his fourth place result is his best career finish in the championship – his previous highest being fifth place at his home round in 2016.

“The race was really strong,” stated Stapleford. “We struggled with a couple of things all weekend and for the last few rounds so being at a circuit that the team know well and I know well it highlighted those issues and it is something that we have got to work on for Misano. So it’s really good for the team.”

With Jack Kennedy riding alongside him in the Profile Racing team, Stapleford was determined to finish ahead of the Irishman, having crossed the line behind his colleague at the Motul Italian Round in the previous race as Kennedy made his debut on the Triumph just over two weeks ago.

At Donington the pair enjoyed another good battle, the Englishman prevailing this time as he crossed the line just over 0.2s ahead of Kennedy.

“I couldn’t let him beat me again,” said Stapleford with a smile. “He beat me at Imola on his first time on the bike as well. It has been nice to have Jack around and nice to have somebody so close to me so that we can try to work together and try to improve the bike. When he came by me in those last few laps I had to dig deep and make sure I got back by him!”
