Lowes ends on a positive after difficult day
Top six start for British rider at Imola
Continuing to work on the set-up of his MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship machine, Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) ended day one at the Motul Italian Round in the top six; however he admits there is more work to come on Saturday.
Missing out on that extra step needed to get him to the podium spots; Lowes was working through some issues with corner entry around the highly technical Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola, but is keen to get racing on Saturday.
Lowes’ lap time of 1.48.089 puts him almost two seconds back from Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) but is keen to work on his pace ahead of Superpole and Race One.
“In general today has been quite difficult,” begins Lowes. “The lap times didn’t come how we wanted them to so it’s been a bit of hard work. I think we’ve done a good job and we’re heading in a good direction for tomorrow. There are two or three parts of the track that need to work with our corner entry, and there are quite a lot of parts of the track where we are losing quite a bit of time. If we can improve that then we’ll have a good race and I’m looking forward to it.”
Keep up with all on track action from the Motul Italian Round, and see if Lowes can make the step up to the podium all on the WorldSBK VideoPass.
