Lowes: "I will try my best to get the result I want in my home race"

Home rider Lowes has strong start to the weekend

Heading out under sunny British skies, Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) was happy with his opening day at the Pata UK Round, ending in the top six. However despite only being 0.634s off the fastest lap time, Lowes explains he has plenty to improve on.

Explaining that he doesn’t think he has the pace to fight for the victory around Donington Park, the 26 year old explains the factors he needs to improve on if he wants to fight for the podium in front of his loyal British crowd.

Despite this, the British rider will be putting his all into the important Saturday around Donington Park: “I had a small crash at the Melbourne loop, the last sector is one I’m struggling with, we went a bit hot on the breaks and we’re trying to work out if its the breaking or the exit where I’m losing, I was on the limit on the breaks so we need to improve coming out of that corner. Not good, not bad unfortunately today, we’re still behind the Kawasaki and Ducati so we need to do something over night, I did quite a good pace on old tyres, I know my pace didn’t change too much and I need to improve something and try my best to get the result I want in my home race.”

On track action begins at 09:05 LT, and you can watch as Lowes tries to repeat his 2014 performance of his maiden WorldSBK podium.
