Australian aims to start 2017 with a bang

Josh Brookes will make a one off return to the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship this season, as he prepares for a wild card ride at his home round of Phillip Island.

Anticipation continues to build for the WorldSBK season opener, which will take place in just over one month’s time and this announcement will bring even more interest to the event. Joining forces with ER Motorsports, Brookes will be riding his 2015 British Superbike Championship winning Yamaha machine; and the 33 year old hopes an opportunity to ride a bike on which he feels comfortable will allow him to be competitive in front of his home fans.

Brookes speaks proudly of his wildcard challenge: “It will be just a small team compared to the teams I've raced with at this level before, but I have some great people helping with this project so I'm hoping it will be a success for us all. I'm having a far bigger input into this event, compared to anything I've done before. I've helped organised the purchase of the bike, the freight, sourced all the parts it needs, and put into place all the necessary preparations that are needed before you go to the race weekend, so I'm quite proud it's all come together.

It’s always great to race at home, in front of the home crowd and it's been years since the Australian public have had someone to cheer for with a real chance, so hopefully we can fill that void.”
