British rider ends Official Test in the top six

Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) completed the final winter testing, just three days before 2017 is set to commence and has a very positive feeling, despite Phillip Island being one of the weakest circuits for the Italian manufacturer.

Putting in 70 laps across two days, despite changeable weather conditions engulfing the stunning Australian circuit Camier was able to feel more positive with his electronics and 1000 F4 chassis. His final lap time of 1.31.293 secured his spot, and meant he was only 0.748s off countryman Rea’s fastest time.

“I feel good to be honest,” explains Camier, “We didn’t expect to be quite so close to the front. I think there are still some areas we can improve on, but in general we are sort of getting the most out of the package so all in all we are really happy. Hopefully we can make some small changes to the electronics, and a little bit the chassis for the race weekend but I think we’ve done some good work over the test, and the laps are sort of showing that. The things we have to focus on now is the race pace; that was the problem with the throttle bodies. It was chewing tyres up so fingers crossed we can keep making improvements with the tyre life, so if we do good here then hopefully it means we have cured the problem.”

Camier and the remaining 21 WorldSBK riders will take to the track on Friday for the opening free practise of the #AUSWorldSBK.
