Badovini reflects on tough start to season

Top 15 finishes the realistic result for Italian

Reaching his 150th MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship start in Race One at the Pirelli Aragon Round, Ayrton Badovini (Grillini Racing Team) chose not to celebrate this impressive feat, but instead focus on how he can improve on his pace with the Kawasaki ZX-10RR.

Securing one points scoring finish so far this season – in the MOTUL Thai Round Race Two – the Italian rider admits his goals of top ten finishes may come towards the end of the season, but his level of working with his team remains at the highest level. Struggling to get the bike to ride how he wants it to, Badovini is using the tactic of only working with his pace in each race as opposed to the overall championship position.

“Our goal is to stay close to the top ten,” says Badovini as he analyses his season so far. “It is important to achieve this and we will try our hardest.  However it will be tough and might not be possible yet; our target in the championship is not important, we just want to fight for the first ten positions in each race.”

The Italian continues to explain how he has been working with his bike and his team: “The bike isn’t at the point where we can give it a faster pace yet. Me and my team have been working hard and we are not in the position to fight for a points scoring finish yet, however we will see for the future, and in the last part of the season.”

Badovini had a steady day in the Official one day test, which was held on the Monday following the Pirelli Aragon Round. Putting in over 30 laps, himself and his team will continue to find some solutions to the issues on his Kawasaki ZX-10RR machine.
