Rookie Savadori Continues to Shine

2015 STK1000 winner takes another P4 in the UK

Both IodaRacing Aprilia riders scored points in Race 2 in the UK, with Alex De Angelis coming home in 15th after struggling with setup, as young rookie teammate Lorenzo Savadori continued his incredible weekend at Donington Park after qualifying on the front row.

Savadori started from P3 at the Derbyshire track after a stunning Tissot-Superpole 2, and after an impressive Race 1 in which the Italian came home in P6, Sunday saw the rookie go two better, crossing the line in P4 to equal both his and the Aprilia squad’s best result of the year. IodaRacing continue to settle into the WorldSBK paddock and will be encouraged by equaling the result once again, with Savadori surely sure to knock on the door to the podium soon.

“I am very happy about this weekend because we were able to do two good races and a good qualifying, but I still have a little 'bitter taste in the mouth as far as Race 2,” said Savadori. “There was the threat of throwing away all the work done these days if I had tried to attack Davies, that's why in the end I did not try to attack: it did not make sense. I preferred to bring home a fourth place which for me is still good. It was a very positive race even if in the end I settled."

"We tried a set different set up compared to Race 1 but it was not effective to me because I was never able to replicate my best times during this weekend,” lamented De Angelis. “I could not even make the same trajectories and the bike became very nervous. So I had to hold on to take home this World Championship point which we needed after the yesterday zero. I hope that in the test at Misano we really can find what's missing me to remain stable on the bike.”

After a test on the 1st of June at Misano, the Aprilia riders will be lining up for Round 8 at the Italian track from the 17th-19th June.
