Latest news from the Losail International Circuit

For the third year in a row, the state-of-the-art Losail International Circuit will host the final Round of the Superbike World Championship from 28th to 30th October.  The event always draws a crowd as spectators come from near and far to watch blockbuster WorldSBK action, under floodlights during the night at the desert track.

Excitement for this year’s Gaerne Qatar Round is building even higher, as the 2016 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship will be decided this weekend at Losail. Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) leads the standings 48 points ahead of his teammate Tom Sykes, who fights for both the Championship crown and second place depending on the results of Race 1 on Saturday. If Rea takes the title, fans will see a high-octane duel break out between Sykes and Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) for the overall runner-up position.

Tickets are still available for the Gaerne Qatar Round, which promises a weekend of unforgettable action in the steamy Arabian desert. Three-day Grandstand tickets are QR 100 and allow access to the Paddock for the first 2,000 guests. WorldSBK VIP Lounge tickets are QR 1,200 for Saturday & Sunday and QR 700 for Sunday only. The hospitality area boasts exclusive views of pit lane and the starting grid from the lounge terrace.

As part of the WorldSBK event program, all the fans will enjoy getting closer to the riders and teams in the Paddock Show activities that are scheduled during the weekend. On Friday, the Paddock Show runs from 22:30 to 23:00 with the WorldSSP top 3 riders and the WorldSBK top 3 riders together with the local hero Saeed Al Sulaiti on the Opening Day show.

The Paddock Show on Saturday runs from 21:00 to 22:00 with the WorldSSP Qualifying show, the WorldSSP Meet ‘n' Greet and the WorldSBK Race 1 & Qualifying show. On Sunday, the fans can meet the riders in the WorldSBK Meet ‘n' Greet at 18:45 with competitions and chat shows. On the giant screen located at the Paddock Show, the races, free practices and Superpole sessions will be shown live with commentary.

In the Paddock area, there will be display stands from Alfardan Motorcycles and Al Badi Bikes, a food corner with Amazing Waffles, Arnag and also the presence of Red Bull Qatar. As partners of WorldSBK, there will be stands dedicated to Fassi, Pirelli Tyres and Milwaukee Tools Qatar and finally, there will be exclusive motorbike parking inside the Paddock for all the bikers that come to the event regardless of their passes.

For those wanting an adrenaline rush and fun with friends, the Go Karting track will be open during the 3-day event with prices at QR 100 for a 15-minute session from 16:00 to 22:00.

As a novelty this year, the 2016 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship – Prize Giving Show will be in the Paddock after the Podium Ceremony of WorldSBK Race 2 and the first 2,000 guests with grandstand tickets will have the honour to share the important moment with the Championship Winners.
