Laville Steals Pole in Final Seconds of WIL Sport EJC qualifying

Saturday, 16 April 2016 13:57 GMT

Frenchman Dorian Laville (Team Laville Mi & Do) has set pole position for tomorrow's race of the 'WIL Sport' European Junior Cup, powered by Honda

Hannes Soomer (Auto24 Ring) had played a strategic game by setting a scorching lap on his Honda CBR 650F early in the session before returning to pit lane to conserve his tyres.

Several riders then set faster first sectors, only to be slowed by strong winds in the final part of the circuit, and it was only in the last thirty seconds of the session that Laville was able string the perfect lap together and knock Soomer from the top spot. With no time remaining for Soomer to respond, Laville has claimed his first pole position of the season with a 0,2 second margin.

Mika Perez (Granshagen Racing Team) will complete the front row, with Alfonso Coppola (Chiodo Moto Racing), Troy Bezuidenhout (Into the Blue Diving) and Paolo Grassia (Chiodo Moto Racing) making up row 2.  Avalon Biddle (Avalon Biddle Racing) qualified as first placed Women's European Cup rider in twelfth position overall.
