Guntoli reflects on Sunday’s race

The Pirelli German Round saw a steady return to the season for Sylvain Guintoli, who has been absent from the Championship due to injuries. His racing return saw him end day 1 in the top 10 before improving on Sunday with a P5.

Barely recovered from injury, Guintoli fought hard in the wet race and eventually finished ahead of Race 1 winner Chaz Davies. However the Frenchman was still disappointed after a solid comeback, expecting a little more out of the weekend.

“It was alright it was a difficult race. At the start of the race I had no feeling at all no grip I couldn’t get any heat in the tires, so it took me a long time to get going but step by step I improved my pace but it was difficult, I mean the bike felt really strong and was good on corner entry, again using the chassis of the bike was very good but I was struggling with the corner exits. So I mean fifth is good it’s alright, it’s a decent result but I feel it should have been better so I’m not so happy,” confessed Guintoli.

The Frenchman has a lot to look forward to as the next Round of the FIM MOTUL World Superbike Championship heads to his home country at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in France at the beginning of October. Guintoli will have family, friends and home fans to cheer him on and hopefully he will have news for his fans about his 2017 plans.
