BMW riders Torres and Reiterberger on the road to the UK

Donington Park circuit is the next venue to welcome WorldSBK, with 4023 metres of tarmac that have played host to many historic showdowns, is one of the shortest on the Superbike calendar and boasts 12 corners.

At the UK Round in 2015 Jordi Torres crossed the line seventh in both races of his rookie outing, while Reiterberger, after the new experience of Sepang, must now re-familiarise himself with a track he hasn’t visited since 2008.

“Donington’s legendary for me, even though last year was my first ever visit after many years of ‘training’ on the various racing videogames!” said Torres. “I think it suits my riding style and I really like the track. I think we now have a good base set-up which I have confidence in, we just need to keep working on the electronics in order to improve the anti-wheelie and traction control systems, to make that step that we’re still missing. Many British riders who know the track inside out will be wanting to do well at their home round this weekend, I hope we can be up there with them and complete two great races too.”

“I’m really looking forward to Donington,” agreed Reiterberger. “I haven’t been there since 2007/8 when I was riding a 125 in the Red Bull Rookies cup. I was quite fast in the past and like the track and so I hope we can do well there this year. I think we now have a good solution in terms of the bike setting so I hope we can start from there and complete a positive weekend, continuing in the direction of Sepang but without the issues we had over that weekend. We’ll see what we can do…”

The lights go out for the new one-off schedule at 15:00 local time (GMT +1) on Saturday and Sunday for WorldSBK Race 1 and Race 2 respectively, as Althea aim for another fantastic top 5.
