Lorenzo Savadori (Nuova M2 Racing Aprilia) turned the page on last season’s disastrous finale by coming out on top in the second round of the 2015 FIM Superstock 1000 Cup at Assen. The Italian rider led the Dutch race from lights to flag after the restart and crossed the line with a 2.4s margin over second place Raffaele De Rosa (Althea Racing Ducati), to give Aprilia its first win in the series.

Savadori quickened his pace in the final three laps and set the fastest lap-time of the race in 1’37.594 on the penultimate tour. The 2014 STK1000 runner-up now sits atop the standings with a 12-point lead over De Rosa, ahead of the third round of the season at Imola (May 8-10).

“I’m over the moon” Savadori said moments after the race. “We really needed this win; not just me, but the team and Aprilia, too. We worked hard from the first free practice and the results have arrived. My goal was to make up for missing the win at the last turn in Aragon and I’m glad we were able to do so. I would like to dedicate this win to the team and Aprilia and, at the same time, I really want to thank Clinica Mobile for helping me being able to race at my best despite having a fever.”
