MV Agusta out to make an impression

Technical director points to second half of 2015 season.

This year is only the second in the eni FIM Superbike World Championship for Italy’s MV Agusta. All in the team admit that there is much work to be done, but Brian Gillen is sure that significant progress will be made across the course of 2015.

“We are really, really excited this year,” Gillen, Team Principal of MV Agusta Reparto Corse, explains to WorldSBK.com.

“In World Superbike we have Leon Camier in the team. We have had some really good tests with him and got some great information from him last year; it has really helped us to develop some new parts to come out this year, we’ll see what happens with the new rules and it’s going to be an interesting year for everybody.

“I think it is a really good fit; Leon is looking to come into a team and grow the team and bike, whereas we were looking for somebody like him with the experience, information and the technical know-how.”

Insisting that the factory needs to walk before it attempts to run, Gillen adds that in the second half of the campaign more should be expected from MV Agusta:

“MV Agusta has to grow in the Superbike class. We don’t have the experience of all of the other teams, as we have only been here for one year. I am looking for strong results from mid-season onwards.”

Aside from its World Superbike project, MV Agusta is also competing in the World Supersport Championship and has already started its season in spectacular fashion; riders Jules Cluzel and Lorenzo Zanetti achieved the manufacturer’s first ever one-two finish in the season-opening event at Phillip Island on 22 February.
