Savadori: "I have grown up a lot both as a person and as a rider"

The Italian rider is now as confident as ever heading into the last part of the year.

Lorenzo Savadori (Team Pedercini Kawasaki) is enjoying his leadership in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup after the second win in a row scored at Portimao last month. It might have been three consecutive wins and a much bigger margin at the top without the technical problem occurred to him whilst in the lead at Imola, but the Italian did not throw the towel in and came back stronger.

“This is not the first time I’m leading the STK1000 championship, it also happened in the early part of the 2012 season with Ducati but surely it feels very different now,” Savadori told WorldSBK.com. “The technical problem suffered at Imola while leading gave me even more motivation to do well but for sure at first I had a hard accepting it. I never gave up and I got great support from people around me!”

Savadori feels he has become a much more mature person and rider compared to the past but he also reached a great feeling astride his ZX-10R: “My mentality and approach to races have changed a lot compared to the previous years, I feel like I’ve grown up both as a person and as a professional. I believe a lot more in my abilities and this is crucial in such a hard fought series, in which you have to earn yourself every single point.

“The bike has improved a lot thanks to the massive work done by each and everyone in the team and by Kawasaki” he added. “I’m very comfortable riding the bike now and I’m sure we are able now to demonstrate what we’re capable of. I need to focus on the title race now and then I will explore my possibilities for next year.”
