The DMC-Panavto Yamaha team manager believes in one last competitive stretch of the season.

DMC Panavto-Yamaha Team manager Sergey Glagolev has evaluated the results of the first half of 2014 Supersport World Championship for the Russian team, which has switched to the new Yamaha YZF-R6 this year. Considering the high level of technical support, the debut was more than impressive: Scotsman Kev Coghlan was fighting for the podium and the victories at the beginning of the season and to finish in the top-5 has become a regular task for him.

"I think we started this season just excellently," said Sergey Glagolev. "Kev ran among the leaders, his task was to finish in the top-5: sometimes it turned out much better, sometimes a bit worse, but in general, he kept the bar high. The headache for us was engines reliability, as it is our first year working with Yamaha in WSS. However, the engines we have prepared were made with focus on durability, so now we are working to increase the peak power and speed."

Glagolev also noted, that considering a small shortening of the championship calendar, other teams also will have opportunities to change the characteristics of the engines in the direction of increasing power, so the final races will be much faster and more aggressive.

At the same time, Kev Coghlan has a chance to close the gap to the leaders at the end of WSS season: "Considering the level of competition, it will not be easy. The riders, who are claiming for the title and fighting for the top-2 race finishes - van der Mark and Cluzel - will be there. But the third place is vacant, and it is our ambitious goal: to leave our competitors behind on every finish. Two rounds coming soon are well known for us: it is Jerez de la Frontera and Magny-Cours, where Kev has a lot of experience, so the whole team is very confident."

"We have never stopped training and preparing, whether it is the off-season or summer break," added Glagolev. "We set the clear goal for our riders Kev and Alex, to ride a motorcycle every day in addition to the usual training at the gym. Their physical conditions is great and we are ready for the final battle."
