The rider from Kent best placed of the EVO riders in race 1 at Aragon.

The BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike team successfully took part in the second round of the Superbike World championship at the MotorLand Aragon circuit in Spain. After an encouraging Tissot-Superpole, which saw Camier earning the 11th spot on the grid for the Sunday’s races, the British rider rode a perfect race one and having battled early on against some of the Superbike peers, he held twelfth position to the line, concluding first among the EVO riders.

In race two Camier was against in contention for supremacy in the EVO class against Salom and Canepa, and in the final stages he was able to place more than one second between himself and his main rivals in the category. Unfortunately, on the very last lap a problem with the gears caused him to lose two positions. Camier therefore crossed the line in twelfth position, third among the EVO riders.

The next round of the eni FIM Superbike World Championship is scheduled for the weekend of 25-27 April at the Assen circuit in The Netherlands.

Leon Camier: “The first race went quite well, I was first among the Evo riders so that’s extremely positive. In the second race we had a few problems but I felt that the bike was working really well and that I had a lot more speed than the other riders. I made a couple of mistakes which was frustrating but the potential is there and the bike is working well. If we can fix those small things that aren’t quite right then we can be very strong. I’m very happy with the team and the bike, we just have to continue working in this direction and I’m sure we’ll get there.”
