Mercado vs Savadori for the STK1000 title at Magny-Cours

Monday, 22 September 2014 09:37 GMT

The two riders are separated by only five points with one race left.

With the World Supersport and Superstock 600 titles already assigned at Jerez earlier this month, the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup prize will be decided in the season finale for the category at Magny-Cours on October 5th. After returning to the top step of the podium in Andalusia, Leandro Mercado (Barni Racing Team Ducati) also retook the leadership in the standings and he is now 5 points ahead of his only rival left for the title, Lorenzo Savadori (Team Pedercini Kawasaki), who was third at the flag at Jerez.

As both riders have two wins each under their belts, Savadori has only two options to claim the title: either win the race or hope that Mercado scores five points less than he does.

The manufacturers’ title is also on the line, with Ducati (Mercado) leading Kawasaki (Savadori) by the smallest margin.
