FIM Europe’s Vincenzo Mazzi passes away

Tuesday, 8 April 2014 12:57 GMT

Vincenzo Mazzi, FIM Europe President and Member of the FIM Board since 2006, died in Rome on Monday afternoon. ‘Enzo’ had been involved in the world of motorcycle racing for almost half a century.

Mazzi was Secretary General of the Italian Motorcycle Federation between 1979 and 1999. He dedicated most of his life to European Motorcycling and in 1996 participated in the founding of the Union Européenne de Motocyclisme (UEM) before being elected for his first mandate as UEM President in 2006. He would have concluded his second mandate in July, when he had planned to leave what he described as ‘space for fresh forces, with new ideas and greater enthusiasm’.

In more recent times, Mazzi had been suffering health problems and his departure leaves a large void. A date and location for his funeral will be communicated in due course.

WorldSBK.com wishes to extend its deepest condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Vincenzo Mazzi.
