The rider from San Marino is considering a switch to the series.

Current MotoGP rider Alex De Angelis is evaluating a possible switch to the Superbike World Championship for the 2015 season. The 30 year old from San Marino was at Magny-Cours a fortnight ago during the penultimate WSBK round of the year to speak to different teams and see what would be available for him. De Angelis claims to prefer racing on bigger bikes, meaning World Superbike and MotoGP would be his favourite destination.

“I came here to talk to different teams to have a clearer idea on what to do next year. I still have a chance to stay in MotoGP, as many people might be aware I made a switch from Moto2 to MotoGP during the course of this year. I would like to be racing big bikes next year so that means either World Superbike or MotoGP. I have many possibilities at the moment, we just have to understand which one will be the best for me but we are working on it.” said De Angelis.

De Angelis is aware of the technical rules changes for next year and knows they might create a different situation in terms of each bikes’ performance in 2015: “It’s true that many riders have joined World Superbike in the past and did well, but with the technical rules changing in 2015 the situation at the moment might not be the same in terms of level of the field. No one knows now which bike and team will be the best. I have talked to many people around the paddock and it seems that Ducati will be very competitive next year but of course, they have to show it next year. From what I have seen all the riders are very close and so are the bikes in terms of performance, meaning there are many potential winners at every race. This is what I really like of World Superbike.”
