The Frenchman to contest his second year in the Superbike World Championship.

The BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike Team will contest the 2015 eni FIM Superbike World Championship with confirmed rider Sylvain Barrier. The whole team will be the same as in 2014, with the former STK1000 double title winner hoping to leave behind what was an extremely challenging season, due to the two serious injuries that heavily affected his performance. The on track operations will be managed once again by Team Director Gerardo Acocella and Crew Chief Rossano Innocenti.

The team has already performed a two-day test a fortnight ago at Jerez and will resume its preparations on January 21-22 at Portimao and again at Jerez on January 26-27.

Sylvain Barrier: “I’m really happy to continue with the BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike Team. The 2014 season was a really tough one given the crashes and the injuries that forced me to sit out many races, but the team has always been behind me and this helped me overcoming the most difficult times. Anytime we were able to get on track with the EVO we always performed very well and, given the new rules, I’m sure we will be able to score some good results.”

Andrea Buzzoni - BMW Motorrad Italia General Manager: “The 2014 season has been a very difficult and unlucky one, but we were able to score some good results nevertheless. We are very confident about next year as our team is made of brilliant professionals, a very talented rider and a vastly improved bike. We already had a great feedback about the 2015 bike, especially on the electronic side of things. We are looking forward to getting back on track and to race at the front in the series, which I’m glad it’s back to a ‘one class’ format.”
