The Frenchman not at ease aboard his BMW machine in Australia.

Former two-time STK1000 winner Sylvain Barrier (BMW Motorrad Italia Superbike Team) endured a difficult week at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit as he struggled to find a good feeling with his BMW S 1000 RR machine. After starting the two races from the sixth row of the grid, the Frenchman finished the two Australian races in fifteenth and thirteenth place, respectively. Barrier is now looking forward to the second event of the season, taking place in a month’s time at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand.

Sylvain Barrier: “This weekend I’ve never found good feeling with the Phillip Island track. At the start of testing we worked hard on the chassis and on the electronics of my S 1000 RR that has improved a lot as a result. Unfortunately since then, every time I’ve tried to increase my pace, I’ve had riding issues and crashed. For this reason I didn’t want to push too hard on Sunday, as I didn’t want to compromise a season that’s only just beginning. I think my team for all their help and I hope to pay them back with better results in the next races.”
